Can I get a diagnostic ultrasound without insurance in the New Orleans area?
Yes, and Nola Diagnostic Ultrasound is designed specifically to make that easy. As a self-pay outpatient imaging center, we offer transparent, affordable pricing without the overhead of a large hospital system. Many of our patients are uninsured or underinsured, or simply prefer to know their cost upfront before they arrive. No prior authorization is required. All you need is an order from your provider, and you're ready to book.
When do I pay?
All payments are completed online when you book your appointment. This secures your time slot and ensures everything is taken care of before you arrive. If paying by cash, payment must be dropped off at the office at least 3 days before your appointment.
Is self-pay more affordable than going through insurance?
It can be, especially compared to hospital-based imaging. Boutique imaging centers like Nola Diagnostic Ultrasound often offer significantly lower rates than hospital departments, with no deductibles, co-pays, or surprise charges to navigate afterward.
What is an HSA or FSA card, and how do I know if I have one?
An HSA (Health Savings Account) and an FSA (Flexible Spending Account) are both tax-advantaged accounts that allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars for qualified medical expenses. If you're enrolled in a high-deductible health plan through your employer, you may already have one. Check with your HR department or benefits portal if you're not sure. Many people have these accounts without realizing they can be used for imaging services like ours.
Will I receive documentation for my records or for reimbursement purposes?
Yes. We can provide a detailed receipt that you're welcome to submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement, though we cannot guarantee reimbursement. Following your appointment, an official radiology report will also be sent to your provider within 24–48 hours. If you need any additional documentation, reach out, and we'll help get you what you need.
What is your cancellation policy?
You can reschedule or cancel by texting (504) 500-7870. Cancellations require at least 48 hours' notice. If you cancel with sufficient notice, your prepaid amount will be refunded, minus the non-refundable Square transaction fee. To request a refund, email hello@neworleansultrasound.com. No-call/no-shows forfeit the amount paid at booking.
